Hand In

Today we had to our final brochure design printed. In class (in table groups) we discussed each of our brochures and what they were about. Then we looked round all the classes brochures to see what everyone else had created. At the end we handed in our final brochure and workbook.

Monday 3rd April, session 9

Final Critique

Today we didn't have a lecture so we could spend some more time with our tutors and get final critiques from them, on any last minute changes to our brochure. So spent the class refining and editing my brochure making sure it was nearly ready for hand in on Thursday.

Printing

In our lecture today Cameron & Rory from Ink digital come in to explain digital printing to us. They talked about file set up, pdf's, file size, paper stock etc... to help us in setting up our final brochure layout for printing.
So for the rest of our studio class time we were developing and making final touches to our brochure designs.

Week Five

Monday 27 March, session 7

Type and Hierarchy

Today for our lecture Fay talked to us about type and how it is used in layouts and so on. So in class we then went through our layouts and edited our type with the new information we had been informed about in the lecture. And we also kept developing our layouts.

Maps, mapping & map making

So today in our lecture Donald gave a lecture about the Historical background of maps and things to do with maps and mapping also cover simplicity vs complexity; Style/Decorative types of maps; illustrative maps; 3-dimensional maps; abstraction maps etc.
This was to give us an overview of maps and the different types of maps you can get. this was good because it gave me some ideas about how my map might look.
I liked the look of the student work featured on stream with the map they used so tried to see if it would work with my layout.

Week Four

Monday 20th March, session 5

Class Interim

So today I wasn't able to come to class because of sickness so wasn't able to present my work to the interim class presentation. However in staying at home, I emailed my tutors the work I had tried to do over the weekend, for the interim presentation I missed.
With the feedback I got, I will try to develop my layouts more and improve them, and show what I had done for the next class.

Week Three

Thursday 16th March, session 4

Layout Ideas

Today at the start of class our lecturers gave us some print outs of layout and text examples to help us prompt and get ideas for our layouts.
After this we showed our layouts and what we have done so far. So as table groups we laid out our work and talked about each and everyones layout and critiqued them. After that we worked on our layouts more.

Monday 13th March, session 3

Collages Developments

Today we worked on our own work and collages however when our lecturers came round to talk to us one on one (I hate collages and told him) and he said they don't have to be collages but can be illustrations related to your subject and topic for your brochure.
So for the rest of that class I came up with illustrations from the few collages I had done, and started to come up with layout ideas for my brochure.

Thursday 9th March, session 2

Getting ideas for Collages

So today in class we needed to bring collages we had started on, however I wasn't in class on Monday so wasn't able to bring anything. So we looked as a class at people work and critiqued them and I was able to get some ideas for collages of my own.
So in this class, I started to collect colour pallet ideas and images and shapes to start creating my own collages. In collecting images of my places in the weekend, it was helpful to start using and adding them in for the collages.
